I've been the Crafty Lady for more than 32 years. After hosting an open house to friends and neighbors in 1979 and setting up a little display in my family-room, I sold over $500.00 that week-end. I was convinced, "I can do this!" With my husband, Rich, 100% behind me, giving me all the money I needed for supplies that first year, I was on my way. Later we both hosted, in our Canyon Country, CA home, a Boutique twice a year with 40 – 50 other crafters. Our customers waited in line to get in. We all enjoyed it and I'm still in contact today with many customers I met from those early shows.
Then my husband and I took a week-end trip to a car show in Kernville, CA and we bought a home that week-end. Within a year and a half, we moved our businesses to Kernville where we reside today. It is a quaint little town of 2000 people, many of whom are retired folks. It is great! We have a variety of things to do like fishing, water sports, camping, snow skiing, and river activities that are only minutes away from us.
Rich named my business "The Crafty Lady". Here's a poem that says it all......
I cancelled out the paper,
I stopped the milk man too.
I fired my gardener,
my own hair now I do.
The only thing I buy now,
each time the eagle flies,
are the necessary groceries,
and a ton of craft supplies.
